Project – Drawing at the Playground

  1. Make a list of your favorite games and equipment you need to play.

  2. Act out the game so you can see what parts of your body move, stretch and grasp objects while you play.

  3. Create a drawing showing your favorite playground activity.

Extensions

Visual Thinking and Language Arts: Students can work in pairs on the same drawing. One can make up the beginning of an action story telling it slowly. The other child tries to draw the story while it is told. The students can switch back and forth until the story is complete. A roll of paper is perfect for this type of narrative drawing.

Visual Thinking and Language Arts: Create a comic strip. Have the students draw themselves or other people doing an activity in sequence.

Science: Students can make a list of the specific parts of the body that move (major joints) and why they can move (muscles). Help children understand the need for exercise and good nutrition in order to be healthy and alert.
