After reading scholastic art magazine, American Pop Art: Working with Ideas issue, it’s time to use what you learned about Pop Art to explore repetition and variation.

pop artists such as andy warhol made art with everyday objects to share their ideas about contemporary culture. now it is your turn to make a line drawing and use repetition and variation to make a statement of your own!

MAKE SOME SKETCHES OF OBJECTS FROM YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE. THINK ABOUT SOMETHING THAT REMINDS YOU OF LIFE AT SCHOOL, ENTERTAINMENT, SPORTS OR YOUR FAVORITE FOOD. 

1. CHOOSE 1 OBJECT TO DRAW AND MAKE A LINE DRAWING ON SKETCH PAPER. KEEP IT SIMPLE! DRAW ONLY THE IMPORTANT LINES AND SHAPES.

2. TRACE OVER ALL OF YOUR LINES USING SHARPIE.

3. HAVE THE TEACHER HELP YOU SCAN IN YOUR DRAWING AND PRINT IT OUT on thick card stock paper.

4. CUT OUT YOUR IMAGES AND ADD BRIGHT POP ART COLORS TO YOUR ARTWORK.

5. GLUE ALL OF YOUR IMAGES DOWN ON A PIECE OF COLORED CONSTRUCTION PAPER. write your name and class code on the back!
