Lines are the visual record of a path of movement.

When fireworks explode, the sparks fly outward very fast.

Then the sparks slowly float down until they touch the ground.

Look closely at the photograph.

Which lines record the movement of exploding fireworks?

Which lines record the trial of sparks floating down?

Which lines tell you that the wind was blowing?

The white lines you see in this photograph are a record of the motions he made with the light.
