Chapter 18, Section 1 Study Guide – Mobilization

The photo-story below provides a brief description of the Internment of Japanese Americans during World War II.

1.  What do you think most contributed to Japanese Interment and the racial tension that existed in America in the early 1940s?

2.  Is it fair to compare Japanese Interment to the early stages of the Holocaust (not the extermination of Jews, only the actions of Hitler & the Nazi’s in the early stages of the Holocaust so think Nuremberg Laws, etc.)?

3.  What effect do you think Japanese Internment had on the psychology of Japanese-Americans?  Other minority groups (Latinos, Blacks, etc.)?  White Americans?  The nation as a whole?

The video below is from The Century; America’s Time Series.  This is the episode titled “The Homefront”.  The 8:00 minute mark to the 22:00 minute mark covers War Industry and Japanese Internment.
