The video below is an episode from the 20-20 “Hidden America” series hosted by Diane Sawyer. This episode is titled “Children of the Plains” and covers the poverty of the Lakota Sioux today.
The assignment that follows will be accepted as Extra Credit for those that choose to do so. It will be due on January 6th when we return from break.
Unfortunately, the full episode is broken down into five separate parts now (the full episode I used in the past is not working). But if you watch the first part, it will go right into the other parts so you still get to see the majority of the episode (approximately 30 minutes).
*Remember the Sioux have been offered reparations totaling as high as $600 million dollars for broken treaties and stolen lands (such as the Black Hills) and to this day refuse to take a penny from the US Government!
