2. How was the family central to the Puritan community?
3. How did the experience of America affect the patriarchal family?
4. Why did people accuse someone of witchcraft?
5. Who were the typical accused? typical accusers?
6. Why did “witchcraft” seem to appear so suddenly in Salem, MA in 1692? Were there any political / economic / cultural reasons
7. How did the witchcraft hysteria of the 1680’s and 1690’s result from a “gap between the expectations of a united community and the reality of a diverse and divided one?”
Now review the power-point presentation below. You and a partner are to create five “essential questions” that need to be answered about the Puritans, and their evolution. These should be created on google docs so easily shared. The answers to your questions need to be on a separate document (one document for the questions and one for the answers per partners is all that is required). These “essential questions” should consider the following about the evolution of the Puritans and New England; culture, economics, religion, background, settlement, critical events, leaders, etc.
