1.  Why were most Presidents that held office during the Gilded Era known as “The Forgotten Presidents”?

2.  What hurt the reputation of each of the following Presidents during this era:  Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Arthur.

3.  What did the passage of the Pendleton Civil Service Act ultimately get Chester Arthur?  why did he pass it?

4.  Who had congressional supremacy during this Era?  What was our nation’s leadership known for during this era?

Assignment 3

The 10 minute video below is a good overview of the political corruption of the Gilded Age.  Create a 2-column chart.  In one column write down all of the examples you can find of problems our nation needed to deal with in the Gilded Age.  In the other column write down the solutions that were used to solve these problems.
