Students can enter original artwork that reflects the theme of I MATTER BECAUSE in the areas of visual arts (painting/drawing, collage, sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, etc.), literature (2000 word max), photography (3×5 to 8×10), dance choreography (5 min limit), film production (5 min limit), and musical composition (audio recording or vocal and/or instrumental, 5 min limit).
All grade levels from preschool through 12th grade can submit artwork and students may enter artwork in more than one category.

All artwork and the entry form must be submitted electronically for this round by midnight December 21, 2020 for local judging. Winning artwork will advance to the state-level in January 2021.
For students who would like to participate but have limited access to art supplies, our PTA Council will try to accommodate reasonable art supply requests.

2020-2021 Theme: “I Matter Because…”
That’s the theme for the 2020-2021 Reflections Art Program which has been bringing the arts to life for more than 10 million students since 1969. And Ohio PTA and its members, families and kids are on the forefront of this amazing program, which increases community awareness of the importance of arts in education.
Reflections encourages students of all ages to:
- Unleash creative talents and be inspired
- Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork
- Experience the fun and joy of making art
- Tap into critical-thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
- Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.
Participation is Easy, Exciting, and Empowering
Students must participate in the National PTA Program through a local PTA/PTSA in good standing. All student entries must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Each entry must be the original work of one student only
- A student may create their entry inside or outside of school
- A student may submit entries is more than one category
- Each entry must be accompanied by a completed and signed Student Entry Form
- Student entries must include a title and artist statement that communicates their inspiration for the work and how it relates to this year’s theme: I matter because…
