What colors do you see below?
Today we will learn about a new family of colors, they are called neutral colors. They include brown, black, gray and white.
You can change neutral colors to look warmER or coolER.
Today you will create a drawing using the neutral colors.

CHOOSE AN ANIMAL TO DRAW FROM THE CLEVELAND ZOO’s website.

Create a drawing using THE neutral colors (black, white, GRAY and brown) and 1 other color of your choice.

Remember to try blending your colors together to create new tints and shades of color.

Add an image of your artwork to your photos on your ipad.

Upload a your artwork to seesaw when you are finished.
EXTENSIONS
SCIENCE: THE COLOR WHEEL INCLUDES HUES WHICH ARE IN THE SPECTRUM. USE A PRISM TO HELP STUDENTS ENJOY THE SPECTRUM THAT CAN BE SEEN WHEN LIGHT RAYS ARE BENT AND SEPARATED.
VISUAL AWARENESS: HAVE THE STUDENTS WHO ARE WEARING BLUE TO STAND. POINT OUT THE VARIETY OF BLUES- LIGHT AND DARK BLUES, BLUE-VIOLET AND SO ON. REPEAT THIS WITH THE OTHER COLORS.
VOCABULARY: PLAY “I SPY” GAMES. HAVE THE CHILDREN IDENTIFY THE COLOR OF AN OBJECT AND SAY, FOR EXAMPLE, “I SPY A LARGE REDDISH-BROWN SHAPE. IT IS IN THE FRONT OF THE ROOM”. HAVE THE OTHER CHILDREN TRY TO GUESS THE OBJECT.
