Consumers Lab Reflection

The consumers lab was focused on two caterpillars grown in a cup with medium and to observe their growth. As time progressed over a few weeks, caterpillars were growing larger with their large amount of food intake. Soon they entered their next stage of life, the pupa, and stayed like that throughout the rest of the experiment. During the experiment the masses of both cups changed as evaporation and conversion to energy for the bugs. Reflecting back, more observations throughout the day would have helped as most were when they were cocooned, eating, or resting on the walls of the cup.

Donald Trump Gambles on Immigration but Sends Conflicting Signals
New York Times
Patrick Healy 31 Aug 2016
Who: Donald Trump
What: Immigration
Where: Mexico and Phoenix, AR
When: August 31, 2016
Why: Immigration policy with Mexico
Donald Trump went to Mexico in the past week to speak with the President of Mexico. The talk went well between the two as Trump was calm. Back in the United States, Trump released a roaring speech one how illegal immigrated are rapist and drug dealers among other horrible things. Trump continued to change his mind over everything in his campaign. With no clue way to make his immigration policy happen, many followers are loosing interest.
My opinion is that Trump has become a more bipolar person with his campaign policy, and is not ready for presidency whatsoever.
I learned that Donald Trump can seemingly act presidential, yet can be drastically different just a couple hours later.
This information affects anyone who pays attention to the news for the up coming election, in who is ready for presidency.
What is your immigration policy?
How is Mexico paying for the wall?
Why does your opinion keep changing?

Once edited the veins of the leaf popped from the photo taken under the plant. I like the change in angle from how most people see plants.

The beginning orange bud on the tree was in pleasant contrast to the purple of the leaves. After the color was drained from the photo the little orange bud popped more without the leaf distracting so much.

Democracy is Action

Democracy in Action
The Fairview Park city council meeting was held in city hall for a regularly scheduled meeting. This particular meeting was for people to receive the city’s approval for new construction projects. The first action was to take attendance of who on council would be voting today. Once roll call was complete, they started taking people’s cases. That day, my troop leader, was first on the list of articles to go over. My troop wanted to build a shed in Messiah Lutheran’s church parking lot, since they are our home church, so our Scoutmaster asked council if they would be happy with the plans we had. As they scoured over the plans we gave them, they had one complaint, “the shed isn’t going to be this red color right?” It was explained that was the generic computer model, they suggested we paint it in neutral colors, beyond that we were cleared. Next a man from PNC Bank spoke, explaining the PNC Bank on Lorain was moving and wanted to build an ATM in Giant Eagles parking lot. The council told him of the recent ATM machines being hit with cars and stolen, to which he told them PNC Bank planned to concrete the ATM four feet down with steel reinforcement. Council asked about security measures and if it would be a problem at night, the man explained they would have lights and a camera. Once all of council’s questions were answered, the man sat back down, as the next stood as his case was called out. A carpenter, the school across from Messiah Lutheran wanted a fence for the children to play unseen in the front of the school. The council was delighted by his fence idea and just asked it be neutral colors. Other cases came and council gave their judgment, going on for an hour.
The people on the council who were of importance were the mayor Eileen Patton and the council president Michael Kilbane, with ten other wards and varying ranks. All of them coming for a local government council meeting. From this meeting I had learned that there were ATMs being stolen in Fairview Park and Rocky River and other cities around the two.
This event shows to me that our city wants to have everything be looking good with nothing too out of the ordinary to keep our city respectable and decent, as it has been since 1910. With all the questions of safety, that goes to show they want to make sure people will not be hurt by what they approve; mandating the lights and camera for the ATM so people can use it safely at night.

Trump Calls for ‘Extreme Vetting’ of Immigration Applicants
New York Times
The Associated Press 15 August 2016
Who: Donald Trump
What: Political policies
Where: Youngstown, Ohio
When: 5:22pm August 15, 2016
Why: protect America from terrorist
Within the past week, Donald Trump visited Ohio to address more of his campaign. On Monday night Donald Trump address his followers with his new plan for “extreme vetting,” or in other words, exclude anyone not American enough from America (which violates the constitution and founding ideas, but that is fine.) Now, instead of only excluding Muslims from America, Trump plans to exclude anyone from either a terrorist country, or maybe those attacked by terrorist such as France and Belgium. Religious freedom, gender equality, and gay rights stances are some of what an immigrant will be asked, answered correctly and they will be deemed American enough to enter American. Donald Trump then goes on to attack Hillary Clinton “declaring she lacks the ‘mental and physical stamina’ to take on the Islamic State.” Though Trump has only come up with allying with countries in agreement with how to stop ISIS and join them.
My opinion from this article is a mixture of confusion, fear, and anger; fearful of how someone so stupid could be so close to president; confused on how Trump wishes to only have people come who “believe in out constitution” yet he breaks the first amendment, can not understand the full second amendment, and I am sure is breaking a variety of other laws in America; all this stupidity frustrates me, being if people manage to make him president I will have to live through that decision.
I learned that Trump is more screwed up on what is correct and what is not than what I originally believed him to be.
This information affects all the people immigrating from those “terrorist countries,” trying to flee the threat on their lives, but will be barred out completely for a while, most innocent and just want asylum in America.
Mr. Trump, what is the full first and second amendment?
How does your “extreme vetting” work with the first amendment?
How is Hillary Clinton not have the “mental and physical stamina” to defeat ISIS?

Democrats, Looking Past Mere Victory, Hope to End the Trump Movement
New York Times
Amy Chozick 3 August 2016
Who: Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Trump
What: Presidential election
Where: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
When: July 28, 2016
Why: Hillary on rising edge for election, Trump is drowning
As the election runs closer Mrs. Clinton and the democrats have a plan for the white house. While Mr. Trump is “shooting himself in the foot,” says Mr. Dowd, Mrs. Clinton plans to make better relationships with voters. After the Democratic Convention ended on July 28th, Hillary had a promising lead against Republicans. Using the new wave of electorates, Mrs. Clinton plans to not only beat the Trump campaign, but to put “the country on a path where Trump’s views of the world are far in our rearview mirror.” Mr. Trump manages to continue to let himself drown, most recently with the criticisms of the Muslim-American soldier killed in an explosion, and only manages to build up his core supports.
I feel as if Mrs. Clinton is going to win this election, sheerly on the fact that Mr. Trump is more hated by Americans, and even his own party.
I learned that Hillary Clinton is able to rise from the ashes to go for presidency, while Donald Trump manages to burn himself more, without ever entering a really fire.
This information can affect my life from voters, being if Mr. Trump becomes the president then i believe America is doomed.
Why do you want to end Trump’s opinions?
How are you going to use Trump’s stupidity to your advantage?
Do you believe Trump will just drop the race?

Failed Turkish Coup Accelerated a Purge Years in the Making
New York Times
Ben Hubbard, Tim Arango, Ceylan Yeginsu 22 July 2016
Who: Turkish Government
What: Coup against government
Where: Turkey
When: July 15, 2016
Why: Some Turks upset with government and want a new leadership
On July 15, 2016 at the Turkish military headquarters a coup attacked with gunfire. The coup, believed to be lead by Mr. Gulan, attacked political sites around the Turkish government. From this coup the Turkish Government started a purge of 10,000 citizens and military officials, scaring some at the speed they collected them. Although Turkish Intelligence claims to have known of the attack, the coup still managed to take hostages until being shut down by Mr. Erdogan’s people.
My opinion of this article is that the Turkish government could have and should have stopped this from occurring if they knew such a plan existed so no lives would be lost.
I learned that over 10,000 citizens and military officials were arrested already within a week.
This information does not directly affect my life being I do not live in Turkey and have no plan to travel there, but it clearly affects the citizens of Turkey and the Turkish government along this the countries around Turkey who are fearful of such hostile actions.
Why would you not take more action towards the coup?
How will you keep the judging fair to the imprisoned?
Do you plan to completely restructure the Turkish State?

F.B.I. Director James Comey Recommends No Charges for Hillary Clinton on Email
New York Times
Mark Landler 5 July 2016
Who: Hillary Clinton
What: Her personal email
When: Last year
Where: Clintons’ home
Why: Used personal email for classified information
This article was about Hillary Clinton’s criminal charges for her use of personal email on classified information. The F.B.I. directory gave Hillary Clinton no charges for her use of email based on the fact that the F.B.I. could not find that she did so intentionally. This investigation started a year ago when the inspector general told the Justice Department of Hillary’s emails. These emails where routed through her home server which made them her personal emails. These charges came because the sensitive information passed through insecure servers which affected national security; from that she was under investigation until declared clear of punishment.
I feel that Hillary Clinton should have a penalty more than just a public tongue-lashing, especially because the F.B.I. director “declared ordinary government official could have faced administrative sanction for such conduct.”
I learned that Hillary Clinton is not facing charges for her personal email.
This information affects the Clinton’s campaign from “lifting an enormous legal cloud from her presidential campaign.”
Why would you use your personal email for top secret information?
Why would you email information you probably knew would become secretive?
What if a terrorist attacked occurred because of this leak in information?

Donald Trump Starts Summer Push With Crippling Money Deficit
New York Times
Nicholas Confessore and Rachel Shorey 20 June 2016
Who: Donald Trump
What: Donald Trump’s spending
When: Past year
Where: Mr. Trump’s headquarters
Why: Mr. Trump’s spending policies different than other candidates
The article is about Donald Trump and his campaign strategy. The article talks about Mr. Trump’s spending on his campaign and how it is different than almost every other campaign. This has occurred over the past year of his campaign, spending and making less than pervious Republican candidates. This took place in nowhere particular, but at Mr. Trump’s financial headquarters. This article was written because of the change in revenue than the Republican Party planned for and his spending is less than the normal cost of campaigning.
Knowing people who are business men and women, the way Donald Trump is running his campaign is an amazing way compared to the others who spend more money to win the presidency. So, with that and this information, Donald Trump would be good at fixing the national debt.
I have learned that Donald Trump has been spending less than other candidates.
This information effects the Republican Party being as they are making less money during this campaign right now.
Why does Donald Trump claim to self fund his campaign, yet ask for donations?
How are you keep your campaign going with only 70 staff members?
How is your campaign going with only $1.3 million or so?
