Bag o’ Stories

“The thing that is really hard, really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.” Said Anna Quindlen, and that is what Girl Scouts is about. This year, I am a Cadet in Girl Scouts. I have been a Girl Scout since I was 7, so I have been doing this for almost 5 years. The most important thing I have learned from this experience, is that everyone is different and nobody is perfect. So don’t try and be someone else, just be yourself.

Recent studies have shown that 4% of people play Volleyball, which does not seem like much. Though what you did not know was that only 4% of people play baseball, or tennis, or hockey. So volleyball is just as popular to play as baseball, tennis, or hockey are, and I play volleyball, it’s my favorite sport. I have been playing for 4 years. To represent this, I brought in a participation medal. Even I have a trophy for winning, I only brought in the participation medal because it does not matter if you win or lose, all that matters is that you have fun

As Thomas Keller once said, “A recipe has no soul, you as the cook must bring soul to the recipe.” And when I cook, I put my heart into it. That is because I love to do it. My favorite thing to cook is soup because you don’t need a recipe, you can just make it your own and have fun with it.

I get lots of recipes from Food Network, click here for one of my favorites!

“Siblings are your worst enemy you could never live without.” -Anonymous
To me, this is very true. I have 3 brothers and even though we fight a lot, I doubt any of us could live without each other. We all love each other, even though none of us are brave enough to admit it.

A picture says a thousand words. In Brian Selznick’s books, this statement is really lives. The reason I like his books so much is because about ½ the book is hand drawn pictures, which makes it sound like I don’t like to read. I do though, and I like his books because they are like 2 in 1 books. In Wonderstruck, it tells the story of a young boy with words and a story of a young girl with pictures, and eventually, the pictures and the words combine when the two meet.

Every year, my entire family goes to Lakeside for a summer vacation. It’s like a vacation village. My family, my cousins, my aunts and uncles, my grandparents, we all rent cottages down the street from each other. So instead of driving to a different town to see them, we just walk a couple houses down. They have a beach there and it it so fun to go there with everyone. Instead of cars they have golf carts and it’s fun to see how many people we can take to the beach with just one golf cart.

“Every artist, was once an ameuteur.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson                                                                                        One of my biggest hobbies is creating art. I like to paint, draw and use oil pastels. My favorite thing to draw is flowers, and I use watercolor paints and oil pastels usually to make sunsets or sunrises. I want to be an artist when I grow up because I want to make people smile with all the bright colors and designs I use.
