For the Birds

This video will help us discuss social skills. I plan on using it in class with my students. Social skills AREN’T for the birds!

Here comes the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program!

For parents: New this year at Gilles-Sweet Elementary School, we are  excited to be implementing the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program! Olweus is a school-wide program that is effective at reducing the rates of bullying in a school if implemented with fidelity. The program is designed to improve peer relationships and help make our school a safe and positive place for students to learn and grow. This system-wide program involves components at the school-level, individual-level, classroom-level, and community level. Our school has an Olweus committee that is responsible for training staff and carrying out events to promote and highlight anti-bullying behavior. The committee is made up of the school psychologists, school counselor, teachers from various grade-levels and specials, intervention specialists, the Director of Food Services, the Director of Pupil Personnel, and the school principals.

If you would like to know more about the Olweus program, please click here. This site will provide you with more information about the program along with other helpful resources about bullying.
