Project – Color: Warm and Cool Colors

1. Create a drawing on the TAYASUI SKETCHES SCHOOL app.

draw a place that has special colors that come from the sun or another source of light. (i.e. the SUN, moon, STARS, street lights, etc.)

2. Imagine or recall colors that would best show a special time of day, season or weather in that place.

3. Most of your colors should be EITHER warm or cool.

4. Mix colors to create a drawing with a variety of warm or cool colors. You may also use the neutral colors if you wish! (brown, black, gray, white).

  • Light colors or tints can be made by adding white to a color.

  • Dark colors or shades can be made by adding black to a color.

5. SAVE YOUR ARTWORK TO YOUR PHOTOS LIBRARY AND UPLOAD YOUR IMAGE TO SEESAW AND ARTSONIA.

Learning about Artists: 

J.M.W. Turner was an English painter who became famous for his paintings using kinds of light and color you can see in the city, sky and water at different times of day and in different kinds of weather.

Claude Monet was a French artist who also studied changes in color caused by differences in light. He made paintings of haystacks in a field which show how color, light and shadows change from early morning to sunset.
